Research with Synchrotron Radiation Transfer Workshop 2022

For an exchange on how to define and how to foster transfer between synchrotrons and industry

Venue: Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin
Albert-Einstein-Str. 15
12489 Berlin-Adlershof

For an exchange on transfer in research with synchrotron radiation (including FELs), the Committee Research with Synchrotron Radiation (KFS) is planning a hybrid workshop with invited guests from science and industry. The "Research with Synchrotron Radiation Transfer Workshop 2022" is organized by the KFS, strongly supported by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), and will take place on 28 and 29 April 2022 (28 April 14:00-18:30, 29 April 09:00 - 12:30) at HZB in Berlin-Adlershof.

The workshop will focus on how to foster the transfer between facilities, research institutions, universities and industry in both directions. There will be three impulse talks followed by discussions. Important questions are, for example, which incentives can encourage scientific staff at the facilities to cooperate with industrial partners, or how such cooperation can be made visible to the funding agencies, how access can be facilitated, what start-ups need and how to promote exchange.

If you would like to attend online, please contact Karin Griewatsch (kfsadmin@sni-portal.de) and outline your motivation. You will also need to register online.

More information:

A workshop for scientists involved in applied synchrotron research with the aim to foster transfer between facilities, research institutions, universities and industry.

What do we mean by “transfer”? Ideally, all actors benefit from cooperation, so that transfer of ideas, knowledge, hardware and know-how happens in different directions.

Transfer also includes making synchrotron radiation known to scientists in industry who are new to the field, taking up new topics and facilitating the use of new findings both in applications and in synchrotron methods.

The workshop is planned to consist of three impulse talks followed by discussions. We believe that discussions in person are more productive than in a video conference, therefore we plan to meet in person, with the additional possibility to attend online.
