170 scientists took part in the German Neutron Scattering Conference 2012, which was an interesting interdisciplinary forum for all neutron users. The session on the planned European Spallation Source ESS showed the momentum of the planning and the great expectations that German scientists set the ESS. Talks and posters from materials sciences, energy storage, magnetism including superconductivity and spintronics, information technology, life sciences, soft matter and particle physics were the basis for discussions and spurred scientific and technical ideas. The conference dinner in the castle Godesburg set a festive accent. We thank the staff of Fz Jülich for the organisation of this successful conference and look forward to the next meeting at the SNI2014.

The journal "Neutron News" has published a report on DN2012 in volume 24 (2013), issue 1: "German Neutron Scattering Conference in Bonn" (authors: Karin Griewatsch and Tobias Unruh).
