[kfn-info] Call for KFN prices extended

KFN email newsletter on 1 June 2022

Dear friends of research with neutrons,

The KFN awards not only highlight special achievements in research with neutrons, but also distinguish excellent researchers and thus promote their careers. The lectures of the award winners are highlights of the German Neutron Scattering Conferences or the SNI Conferences (SNI2022: 05-07 Sept. 2022 in Berlin).

KFN has extended the call for proposals for the Wolfram-Prandl Prize for Young Scientists and the Instrumentation Prize Neutron Research until 19 June 2022. Take this opportunity to make proposals!

The Wolfram-Prandl-Prize is awarded for outstanding work in which investigations with neutrons played a significant role. All neutron applications outside of neutron scattering are explicitly included. The Instrumentation Prize is awarded for outstanding work leading to method development or significant improvements of neutron-based instruments (e.g. neutron transport, energy resolution, detection, etc.).

Both prizes are endowed with 2500 € each and are announced for young scientists, usually still without a permanent position, but without an explicit age limit.

Proposals are to be sent to the KFN representative for prizes, Ulli Köster,
by 19 June 2022. Please justify your proposal (concise, 1-2 pages) and include a scientific CV of the candidate as well as a list of publications. Please send all documents in electronic form to and with the reference "KFN Prize".

More information on the Wolfram Prandl Prize and the Instrumentation Prize can be found at

We look forward to receiving many letters and remain - until SNI2022 at the latest - with best regards,

Frank Schreiber and Ulli Köster, Komitee Forschung mit Neutronen
