Tasks and Aims of the Committee Research with Neutrons

The main task of the Committee Research with Neutrons (KFN) is promoting all national and international scientists, who research with neutrons.

In Accordance to its statutes the KFN represents all scientists in Germany, who work by neutrons or are related to the research with neutrons closey.

The committee consists of seven elected members and of guests. The elected members are representatives of the neutron centres and the Universities and the guests are representatives of the responsible bodies for research on condensed matter (BMBF, DFG, Promoter PT-DESY).

Coopted members:

In addition members can be coopted to reach a balanced representation of the different fields in the committee.

At the KFN-Meetings an important task is holding up the dialogue among users and neutron sources, representatives of the responsible departments at the BMBF and DFG and also the project executing organisation.. The aim of the meetings is coordinating planning and the exchange of informations mainly.

Instrument usage:

In order to clarify higher-ranking questions with respect to the use of large scale facilities common discussion rounds with represenatatives of the Committee Research with Synchrotron Radiation (KFS) and the Committee Research with Nuclear Probes and Ion Beams (KFSI) take place.

The Committee Research with Neutrons (KFN) is a panel Member of the Commission Research on Condensed Matter (KEKM).

The KFN appoints the national representative, who represents its interests in the European Neutron Scattering Association (ENSA).

The KFN is an important contact for national and international organisations with respect to all questions in the research with neutrons.
