KFS email newsletter on 16 May 2022

Dear colleagues,

> Synchrotron research for climate protection and energy transition
In order highlight the important contributions that research with synchrotron radiation is making to the energy transition, the KFS has compiled illustrative examples in a press release. In addition, research associations and cooperation platforms are presented so that you can get an impression of the research landscape in Germany that is relevant in this field. We look forward to receiving more examples - and if you spread the link on the web or refer to this press release in social media:

The press release "Synchrotron Research for Climate Protection and Energy Transition" is the starting point for a more in-depth discussion of the topic on the KFS website.

> Transfer between academia and industry

At the end of April, more than 40 participants discussed and formulated ideas on how to increase the societal benefit of synchrotrons at a KFS transfer workshop. The exchange between participants from industry, service companies, facilities, research institutions and universities was intense and open. A central point was the stronger involvement of companies providing hardware and software for synchrotrons and service around measurement at the synchrotron. In addition, stronger networking of the academic world and the business world through personnel exchange between institutions and in thematically oriented centers ("hubs") was recommended. Last but not least, prioritization at the facilities with sufficient and permanent staff was also an issue. A short summary can be found at

> SNI2022: Late Poster Abstract Submission
05-07 Septemebr 2022, Berlin

Numerous interesting abstracts have been submitted for the 5th Conference on Research with Synchrotron Radiation, Neutrons and Ion Beams at Large Facilities in Berlin (September 05-07, 2022) and are currently under review. If you would like to present your latest results on a poster, you will get the chance to upload an abstract again during this week:
