[kfs-verteiler] SNI2022, Deep Learning School and deadlines

KFS email newsletter on 25 August 2022

Dear colleagues,

>> SNI2022

We, and especially the Berlin organisers, are in the middle of preparations for SNI2022, maybe you too? We look forward to informal exchange, discussions at the posters, shared meals and professional inspiration during personal encounters - finally! The Conference Book with all information about the conference, the programme and the abstracts of the contributions can be found here:

By the way: Post-deadline registration is still possible - please contact All information on the conference is also available at

As always, the programme is very broad in terms of content. A particularly large number of contributions come from the areas of "In situ & operando studies in solid state research" and "Instrumentation". In addition to exciting developments in research on energy, geosciences, environment and climate, materials, health, magnetism and soft matter, it is also about digitalisation and industry, innovation and transfer - both forward-looking trends supported by KFS, KFN and KFSI.

The potential of research with neutrons, synchrotron radiation and ions is condensed in the public evening lecture, to which we cordially invite you:

> "Matter in the light of large-scale facilities: From nanometres to femtoseconds".
Speaker Frank Schreiber
Monday, 05 Sept. 2022, 7 - 8 p.m.

We are also looking forward to the reception on Tuesday evening at the Tipi am Kanzleramt and hope to meet many of you there!

>> Conceptual Advances in Deep Learning for Research on Universe and Matter, 12-16 Sept. 2022, Wiehl

DIG-UM and ErUM-Data-Hub are organising a workshop for which you can register until 29 August 2022:

The workshop serves the professional exchange of young researchers who belong to the ErUM community. Concepts of Deep Learning and their future implications for the exploration of Universe and Matter (ErUM) will be discussed and explored.
